By eliminating the need to manually feed papers, you can work on other tasks while the shredder shreds for you. The 500M model can automatically micro-cut shred as many as 500 sheets, including those fastened with paper clips or staples. Simply insert a stack of 500 letter or legal size sheets into the autofeed tray, shut the lid, and you're done. This hands free shredder also includes a locking feature to keep your sensitive items safe during the auto shredding process. Once shredding starts, the paper chamber locks and cannot be opened unless a user enters their 4-digit PIN code to interrupt shredding. Only once the total shredding process is complete will the shredder automatically unlock so that another person can use it.

For shredding of DVDs/CDs, credit cards, glossy and folded sheets a manual shredding slot is also included, which shreds up to 10 sheets at once. The 500M is a micro-cut shredder, delivering Level P-5 high security that is suitable for shredding confidential documents including sensitive financial and personal identification information. One sheet of paper is shredded into approximately 2000 pieces and caught in a 21-gallon waste bin.
